About the Ipplepen Local History Group
Ipplepen is a village of some 2,500 people, in South Devon, England. For the location map, click here. The Group was formed in July 2009 by a number of people living in the village who thought it important to preserve as much “local history” as possible. A Constitution was drawn up & adopted at the AGM. which sets out the aims, objectives and management of the group, this can be viewed here.
Briefly, the aims of the group are to collect, record & preserve the histories of Ipplepen and to share it with anyone interested. Funds to carry this out have been raised by subscriptions and “Grants” from Devon Community Fund’s “Grassroot”, Teignbridge Councillor’s Locality Budget and the Ipplepen Community Fund, allowing the group to purchase storage cupboards and other equipment.
Regular meetings are held at the Ipplepen Village Hall to as wide an audience as possible. “Minutes” or notes of these meetings can be found on the News pages. The current membership of the Group is around 60 people.
